Palenque
Colombia in Brooklyn
Palenque, the first 'free town' in the Americas, was started by people who escaped slavery back in colonial times and it's still standing strong in Colombia today. It's a one-of-a-kind spot, known for its unique culture, language, history and of course, its amazing food.
This brand draws inspiration from the women of Palenque, reflecting the company's roots as a woman-led business, also founded by a woman. It embodies the warmth of human connection, the joy of Palenque’s people, and the ever-present sun that bathes the area. The design also captures the authenticity of Colombian art, representing the collective joy of neighborhood life. The brand’s visual identity combines the cool vibe of Brooklyn with the rich heritage of Palenque, Colombia, creating a unique and stylish look. The overall theme is casual and fun, centered around great food, making for an inviting and enjoyable experience.

I had the pleasure of working with my talented photographer friend, Erika Rojas, to art direct and style the images we created for the brand. You can check out more of her amazing work here: erikarojasphotography.com
